Welcome to the launch of the fifth edition of the Celebrate Bandra Festival; the only festival of its kind that is run of, by and for the people of Bandra. The festival that provides the finances that contributes towards a better quality of life for our residents. From our past four festivals we have sponsored a rainwater harvesting project, a solar water heating project, school buses for an orphanage and a school for underprivileged children.
This year we have been a bit more adventurous in taking up the 'U Turn' traffic project in conjunction with the Traffic Police and the Eagle Brigade in an effort to ease the traffic congestion in Bandra. The project involves education and implementation of traffic discipline in Bandra.
We have also donated a bus to Kripa that will facilitate movement in conducting their 'Alcohol & Drug Awareness through Training' Initiative. This training is aimed at school and college students and we believe it will go a long way in keeping our youth drug and alcohol free.
This year we are celebrating Bandra's Diversity. A look at the Bandra community reveals that from being a small close knit group where everyone knew everyone else, Bandra has morphed into this diverse multi-lingual, multi-ethnic society. Our diverse architecture covers a range that includes gaothans, beautiful heritage structures and present day multi storied buildings. Our greenery has provided ample scope for our avian friends to thrive and create that early morning symphony that is so typical of Bandra. And through all this pluralism runs a oneness that like a beautiful tapestry provides a shelter from everything that is divisive something that we would like to refer to as 'Bandraness'
The festival is designed to promote budding talent and highlight professional talent. A glance at our schedule proves we have done precisely that. Together with Fountainhead Promotions and Events our Trustees have worked long and hard to bring you an event filled 15 days of world class entertainment for everyone. Without a doubt everyone will have a fun filled festival.
